Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 (Bangemman's Seminar Room) in the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (Campus Miguel Delibes): “Non-linear Analysis of Biomedical Signals” by Dr. Roberto Hornero.

The EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) presented a seminar featuring Dr. Roberto Hornero (Biomedical Engineering Group). Dr. Hornero talked about non-linear processing of electroencephalographic and magnetoencephalographic brain signals, applied to early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy and schizophrenia.

The EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) organized a morning seminar session to discuss the communications that some AEBIO’s members would present at the 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) in Lyon, France, Aug. 23-26, 2007.

Thursday, Sep. 27, 2007 (Bangemman’s Seminar Room) in the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (Campus Miguel Delibes): “Magnetoencephalogram Blind Source Separation and Component Selection Procedure to Improve the Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease” by Javier Escudero.

The EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) organized a talk, where Javier Escudero (Biomedical Engineering Group) presents the work entitled: “Magnetoencephalogram Blind Source Separation and Component Selection Procedure to Improve the Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease”. Javier was awarded with the 3rd place in the student paper competition at the 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) in Lyon, France, Aug. 23-26, 2007. Congratulations Javi!!

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006. The EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) celebrated the traditional dinner before Christmas break.

Tuesday, Jul. 31, 2007. The EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) had a picnic at “Fuente del Sol” in Valladolid, Spain, to give its members a fun break before summer vacations.

Past events - Attendance to conferences

Attendance at the 24th Annual National Conference of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB) in Pamplona, Spain, Nov. 6-8, 2006.
Six members of the EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) attended to the SEIB conference in Pamplona, Spain, where they presented their research works about non-linear analysis of electromagnetic brain signals to aim neurodegenerative diseases diagnosis, obstructive sleep apnea detection using automatic classification schemes, and automatic detection of hard exudates in retinal images.

Attendance at the 3rd IASTED International Conference on Telehealth in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, May 31-June 1, 2007.
One member of the EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) attend to the IASTED conference in Montreal, Canada, where she presented a research work which implements a web-based application to exchange electronic health records in ophthalmology.

Jan. to Mar., 2006 (Laboratory 2L024) in the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (Campus Miguel Delibes): "Tutorial on Biomedical Engineering - Applications to biomedical signal processing".

Once a week, from Jan. 2006 to Mar. 2006, the EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) organized a presentation about different kinds of biomedical signal processing methods. The topics included classical spectral analysis and nonlinear processing of biological signals.

Monday, May 15, 2006 (Laboratory 2L024) in the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (Campus Miguel Delibes): "Survey on eye fundus image analysis" by María García and Clara I. Sánchez

The EMBS Student Club at UVA (AEBIO) organized a seminar session, where the audience was introduced to retinal image analysis techniques to automatically detect characteristic clinical signs of diabetic retinopathy.
